SAND & SEA

Sand & Sea is a stone monolith residence located on a private cul-de-sac along the ocean side of Scenic Road in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Anchored to its coastal site, the home is punctuated by projecting glass volumes that frame expansive views of the Pacific, creating a deliberate contrast between mass and transparency. A raised roof with clerestory windows draws ambient light into the home from all directions, while a private sunken courtyard offers a sheltered retreat for the bedroom spaces. Above, a roof deck opens northward toward Pebble Beach, extending the living experience into the landscape. The interiors, curated by the owner and local artist René Romero Schuler, layer art and materiality to create a deeply personal expression of place.
